there was one other thing i meant to say...i recently ran onto some folks on flickr who are doing daily drawing/painting/art stuff that i find really inspiring.

here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/novembermoon/sets/72157623113878506/

this is really a great reflective post (thank goodness for sitemeter, which is how i found you). :-)

for 2009, i made it a goal to finish 100 creative things...and i actually did it, tho' i had to get a bit creative (counting photos where i had carefully arranged objects was one). i like your idea of devoting a specific amount of time, rather than assigning an arbitrary number of things to do/write/make. that sounds like less pressure and more focused on process, rather than product, which can be just as important.

as for battling the t.v., i do it somewhat as well, especially in the evenings. i'm making myself work on a stitching or knitting or crocheting project while i watch t.v., so that i'm not just sitting there, vegging. of course, i'm really bad at knitting and crocheting, so it tends to be stitching, but maybe by doing this, i'll get there.

anyhow. nice to have found you.

happy new year!

Hi Pam - I love your word choice. We could all use a little more serenity in our lives. Good luck on living up to the definition. That should be one heck of a year.
