Charlaine Harris, a mystery writer, has a series of books called the Stookie Stackhouse mysteries. It centers on Sookie, a telepathic barmaid from Northern Louisiana, who falls in love (and in trouble) with a series of vampires, were-creatures, and other various supernatural entities. It’s very cheeky and fun, incredibly light right reading.

The TV series True Blood is based on these novels, but the show diverges from the books quite a bit. They are both good, but in very different ways. I recommend both!
