Did I ever tell you that I hate Valentine’s Day? I do. I am a passionate hater of Valentine’s Day, mostly because I hate the enforced pressure to buy chocolate-jewelry-cards-flowers for your loved one. Those types of gifts should be spontaneously offered, rather than dictated by a calendar or Hallmark. I also hate romantic comedies and sentimental love songs, so maybe I’m just kind of a crank.
Since I hate Valentine’s Day and gooey love poetry, it was a lovely coincidence that another local poet I know, Elizabeth Burns, invited me to share a reading with her. The theme for the reading is “No Romance, No Valentine’s Poetry,” since it occurs on Valentine’s Day eve. Here are the details:
Because there are other kinds of music and poetry in this world.
Celebrate the love of poetry and music with:
- Award winning poet Elizabeth Burns
- Poet Jessica Fox-Wilson, author of “Blameless Mouth” (Everything Feeds Process Press)
- and featuring the music of guitarist Molly Burns-Hansen

I will be reading six poems from Blameless Mouth and I will have copies of the book on hand. If you’re local to the Twin Cities, I hope that you will attend my very first Blameless Mouth reading. It should be a blast!
If you plan on attending, I hope you’ll RSVP on the Facebook invite. Thanks!
*I am not familiar with Bean Good, but according to their website, they host poetry readings every Thursday evening. I love to find a new poetry-centric place in my town.
